Antenna Cable

You need to eliminate the inflatable restraint instrument panel (IP) module before beginning to replace the antenna cable. Unplug the antenna cable at its radio extension cable interface while recording which location the cable extension is currently at. Using IP support bars as a guide locate the antenna cable before you disconnect it from the radio through the IP compartment. Next reposition the radio extension cable off the vehicle. To install the radio extension cable start with the same steps described for positioning it on IP support bars then feed your hand through the IP compartment to join the antenna cable to the radio followed by attaching the cable's components to the support bars. After finishing attachment of the antenna cable to the radio extension cable you must install the inflatable restraint module.

Start Antenna Cable replacement work by removing the right front door sill plate and right hinge pillar trim panel and instrument panel compartment door. Detach the radio Antenna Cable from the extension cable then pull out the grommet through the hinge pillar opening. Tie a mechanics wire to the Antenna Cable before extracting the Antenna mast and screws which fasten the Antenna Base. To begin installation divide the cable with its grommet from the routing opening before extracting the Antenna from the vehicle where the mechanics wire should remain in position. Installation begins with attaching the mechanics wire to the Antenna Cable end before pulling the cable through the hinge pillar accompanied by the grommet. Tighten the Antenna Base's retaining screws to 7.5 n.m (66 lb in) before installing the Antenna mast. Begin by dismantling the Antenna Cable from its mechanics wire then place the grommet across the hinge pillar and join the radio Antenna Cable to the extension cable. Put back the i/p compartment door followed by the right hinge pillar trim panel then the right front door sill plate.

Remove the radio extension cable from the vehicle.

Begin by removing the right windshield garnish molding, the instrument panel (I/P) trim pad, the right sunshade along with its inboard retaining clip, and lower the front portion of the headliner.

Remove the lower rear portion of the wheelhouse panel.

Pass the cellular telephone coax cable through the carpet opening, then install the child restraint tether anchors and tool kit carrier.

Remove the lower rear portion of the wheelhouse panel.

Disconnect the electrical connectors from the digital radio antenna assembly, then remove the right front door sill plate.

Position the radio extension cable to the IP support bars as previously noted.

Reach through the IP compartment to disconnect the antenna cable from the radio.

Reach up behind the wheelhouse panel to take out the antenna cable and grommet assembly from the cowl opening.

Place the radio antenna cable assembly back into the vehicle and pass the antenna cable and grommet assembly through the fender opening.

Disconnect the radio extension antenna cable and remove the clip that retains the extension cable.
