    Q:
How to replace the lower control arm (2500) on Cadillac Escalade ESV? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin lower Control Arm (2500) replacement by lifting and stabilizing the vehicle before taking off the tire and wheel. The knuckle and upper Control Arm need to be supported by equivalent mechanics wire. The stabilization shaft link requires disconnection from the lower Control Arm before removing the shock absorber and torsion bars. Detaching the wheel drive shaft belongs to the next step. Detach the lower Ball Joint from the Steering Knuckle using j 43631 (Ball Joint Separator) and j 45851 (Ball Joint Separator Protector Adapters) before removing the lower Ball Joint retaining nut, lower Control Arm nuts, washers, and Control Arm bolts to extract the Control Arm. To install the new lower Control Arm position it first followed by Control Arm bolts and washers then fasten with retaining nuts until torque reaches 175 n.m (129 lb ft). First install the torsion bars and then secure the lower Ball Joint inside the Steering Knuckle before attaching the wheel drive shaft. Tighten the lower Ball Joint retaining nut to 110 n.m (81 lb ft). After shock absorber reinstallation remove the knuckle and upper Control Arm supports while attaching the stabilizer shaft link to the lower Control Arm. The repair procedure ends with tire and wheel installation then removal of supports and verification of the front end alignment.

    Q:
How to replace the lower control arm on those equipped with an aluminum lower control arm on GMC Sierra 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
In order to replace the lower Control Arm on vehicles with an aluminum lower Control Arm, always advance the vehicle and support it before removing the tire and the wheel. Unhook the stabilizer shaft link from the lower Control Arm, and if so, unhook the wheel drive shaft. Secure the knuckle assembly and upper Control Arm with mechanics wire or a similar gear. Remove the lower Ball Joint retaining nut and dispose it off, thereafter, take out the bolts from the lower shock module from the lower Control Arm. Use the j 43631 (Ball Joint Separator) and the j 45851 (Ball Joint Separator Protector Adapters) to remove the lower Ball Joint from the Steering Knuckle. Next, unbolt and remove the lower Control Arm nuts and washers, then Control Arm bolts to pull out the Control Arm. To install, align the lower Control Arm and fasten using the Control Arm bolts and washers . Install the lower Control Arm retaining nuts and tighten them to 175nm (129 lb fit). Place the lower Ball Joint into the Steering Knuckle which will require the proper nut depending on whether or not there is a captured washer and tighten up accordingly-125 nm (92 lb ft) with the captured washer, or the 50 nm (+ 130) (37 (+ 187) lb ft) on the other. Mount the lower shock absorber module with bolts and tighten to 50 nm (37 lb ft). Eliminate the support of the Steering Knuckle and upper Control Arm, and then replant the wheel drive shaft (if any). Attach the stabilizer shaft link to the lower Control Arm back onto the vehicle, place back the tire and wheel, remove the support, lower the vehicle, and all is done regarding the alignment of the front end.
