    The replacement process for the upper Timing Chain Guide involves camshaft cover removal before extracting the bolts and finally removing the guide from the Cylinder Head. Install the upper Timing Chain Guide by placing it on the Cylinder Head while applying threadlock gm p/n 12345498 (Canadian P/N 10953488) to the upper Timing Chain Guide bolts according to the fastener notice in service precautions. To complete the installation replace the upper Timing Chain Guide bolts and use 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) torque until they are properly secured before putting the camshaft cover in its respective position.

Installing the lower Timing Chain Guide requires users to position it on the engine before tightening its bolts to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the cylinder head access hole plug with 5 nm (44 inch lbs.) torque and fit the crankshaft sprocket onto the crankshaft sprocket snout with attention to position the marked chain link toward the timing mark of the crankshaft sprocket. You should install the final component which is the Timing Chain tensioner shoe.
