Brake Pads

Check the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid level before work. If the fluid sits between its middle two markers you do not need to add or drain fluid but if it reaches the top you should lower its level to the middle mark. Lift the vehicle safely with jack stands and take off both tire wheel elements. Place a c-clamp to push piston down and reset the caliper position until it reaches the bottom position. Support the caliper with wire as you take it off the mounting bracket to protect the hydraulic brake hose. Examine the brake caliper parts and take off both brake pads after removing the anti-rattle clips from the brake caliper mounting bracket. For all utility vehicles except 1500 2wd install the brake pads with their longest chamfered end facing down the inboard rear pad for this model type. Reattach the tire and wheel afterward after installing the brake caliper to its mounting bracket with new bolts. When the engine is turned off apply the brake pedal twice through its middle area and release slowly four times until you feel a firm pedal to place brake pads and pistons correctly. End this process by adding fresh brake fluid to the master cylinder tank then polishing brake components when needed.
