    Q:
How to replace the intermediate steering column seal on Chevrolet Express 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
When replacing the intermediate steering shaft seal ensure that wheels are facing straight ahead while locking the Steering Column to safeguard the sir coil assembly from harm. Place the Steering Column anti-rotation pin j 42640 into the Steering Column lower access hole as your first step. First remove the intermediate shaft bearing then remove the intermediate shaft seal from the intermediate shaft bearing. Follow these steps for installation: first place the new intermediate shaft seal onto the intermediate shaft bearing. Then put the intermediate shaft bearing back in place before you take out the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) from the Steering Column lower access hole.

    Q:
How to replace the intermediate steering column seal on Chevrolet Express 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the intermediate steering shaft seal, strap the Steering Wheel in a straight ahead position with the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640), Steering Column lock, or strap to prevent rotation, recommended due to the possibility of damaging the sir system. Make sure the Steering Column, intermediate shaft(s), and steering gear are disconnected without any rotation of the Steering Wheel or movement of the front tires; otherwise, it will un-center the sir coil assembly. If there's an un-centered sir, then the sir coil special centering procedure should be followed. Start with the installation of the j 42640 into the Steering Column lower access hole, after that remove the intermediate shaft bearing and the intermediate shaft seal from intermediate shaft bearing . For installation you should put the intermediate shaft seal on the intermediate shaft bearing, reassemble the intermediate shaft bearing, and finally pull j 42640 from the Steering Column lower access hole.
