    Q:
How to replace the cooling fan and fan shroud on Chevrolet Trailblazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
The maintenance sequence for cooling fan and shroud replacement starts with the removal of the air intake baffle and then proceeds with the hood latch support. First disconnect the transmission cooler lines running through the engine while simultaneously letting them depart from the Fan Shroud. First remove the two upper bolts from the Fan Shroud through use of hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to position the upper inlet Radiator hose clamp before removing the upper inlet Radiator hose from the Radiator. The Water Pump should get positioned with its bolts straight up before disconnecting the shroud electrical connector. Before loosening the cooling fan hub nut with a counterclockwise rotation the engine support fixture (J 46406) must be used to stabilize the Water Pump Pulley. Remove the Fan Shroud from the Radiator side panels before tilting the Radiator and condenser forward to lift the fan and shroud up towards the engine opening to clear the Radiator inlet. To install the fan and shroud combination place them directly onto the Radiator bottom lip then apply two bolts into the upper Fan Shroud and tighten them to 28 nm (21 ft. Lbs.). Secure the Water Pump Pulley with the engine support fixture (J 46406) while installing the fan nut into the Water Pump shaft with clockwise rotation torque set to 56 nm (41 ft. Lbs.). You must install transmission cooler lines onto the engine while clipping them into the Fan Shroud followed by reattaching the hood latch support and attaching an upper inlet Radiator hose to the Radiator before readjusting the clamp position using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) then installing the air intake baffle.
