Door Jamb Switch

You must start by removing the door jamb along with disconnecting the electrical connector from the door jamb switch before switching it. Next remove the door jamb switch from its position inside the vehicle pillar. After door closure during installation the plunger enters the sleeve which completes the specific door switch adjustment. Any broken jamb switch needs replacement with a new one without attempting to adjust it. Follow this procedure to place the door jamb switch near the pillar then link the electrical connector followed by the door jamb switch installation step. During installation of the door jamb switch close the door once to allow the plunger to enter the sleeve before tightening the switch to 10 N.m according to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Replacing the front Door Jamb Switch requires the first step to disconnect the battery negative cable while observing all battery disconnect precautions. Start the replacement process by taking off the instrument panel sound insulator first from the right side then from the left side. Locate the electrical connector with your fingers before lifting to unlock the locking tabs which will allow you to remove the switch from the vehicle. You should begin the Door Jamb Switch installation procedure by fitting the new switch in position and pushing all locking tabs into place followed by reattaching the electrical connector. Place the instrument panel sound insulator first on the right side and afterward on the left side while performing the last step of reconnecting the battery negative cable.

You should remove the instrument panel sound insulators both on the right and left sides of the vehicle. The electrical connector can be disconnected with hand access while pressing tabs unlocks the Door Jamb Switch so it can be taken off the vehicle. Install the new Door Jamb Switch by seating its locking tabs all the way and then connect the electrical connector. Finish the procedure by reconnecting the negative cable of the battery then reinstalling the instrument panel sound insulators on both right and left sides of the vehicle.

The installation procedure includes connecting the electrical connector followed by installing the Door Jamb Switch on the rear door hinge-pillar and finishing with connecting the negative Battery Cable.

Upon closing the door for the first time, the plunger will be forced into the sleeve, automatically adjusting the switch for that specific door.

Connect the electrical connector to the door jamb switch and press inward on the switch until it is fully seated in the hinge pillar.

First, remove the door jamb switch and the door jamb switch wire harness. Then, install the door jamb switch wire harness followed by the door jamb switch.

Connect the electrical connector to the new door jamb switch and press inward on the switch until it is fully seated in the hinge pillar.

Disconnect the electrical connector and tape the wires to the body to prevent them from falling into the hinge-pillar.

Reinstall the instrument panel sound insulator on the right side, followed by the left side, and finally reconnect the battery negative cable.

Disconnect the battery negative cable to ensure safety.
