    Q:
How to replace spark plug wires and ensure proper installation on Chevrolet SSR? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the Spark Plug Wires, start by loosening the Spark Plug Wires at the spark plugs, by twisting each wire 1/2 turn and pull only the boot. Next, pull off the wire from the Ignition Coil by twisting each boot 1/2 turn and pull on the boot. The melco(R) (square design) is utilizing a Spark Plug wire that is 145mm (5.70in) long from the wire seal to the wire seal whereas the delphi(R) (round design) is utilizing a Spark Plug wire that is 110mm (4.30in) long from the wire seal to the wire seal. There are the two independent manufacturers for the ignition coils: the melco(R) (square design) and delphi(R) (round design) each have different Spark Plug Wires and mounting brackets, namely melco(R) (square design) coil mounting bracket, and delphi(R) (round design) coil mounting bracket. For installation, install the Spark Plug Wires onto the Ignition Coil and then link the wires to each Spark Plug. Lastly, check the install of the wires by pushing them aside to ensure the seating and reinstall loose boots.
