The specified torque values concern dry fasteners without lubrication while bench work must happen on a oil-free mineral material-free work surface. Move the caliper from the car and empty the brake fluid. Users must keep their fingers away from the Piston when using compressed air to prevent injury occurrences. Clean cloths should be used to pad inside caliper housing while clearing the Piston through the bore by applying only enough compressed air. Attend each caliper end using large c-clamps while positioning a 25 mm (1 inch) wood block between the caliper body and the Piston. You should pull out the brake caliper Piston through the brake caliper inlet hole with controlled low-pressure compressed air before taking off the c-clamp and wood block. After instituting the initial pad layer, add another 25 mm (1 inch) wood block to seal the caliper bore. Perform the procedure once more to extract the second Piston. When taking off the Piston boot and seal maintain caution by using a small plastic or wood tool to prevent harm to the components. Disconnect the brake caliper bleeder valve and its cap together with Piston boots and seals from the assembly. Use denatured alcohol or equivalent to clean the brake caliper Piston bore along with seal counterbore and caliper Piston then air-dry with non-oil contained filtered air. Perform an inspection of all brake caliper components for damage before deciding to replace any components. Fit the brake caliper bleeder valve and cap followed by application of delco supreme 110 brake fluid gm p/n 12377967 (Canadian P/N 10953488) or equivalent dot-3 brake fluid to new Piston seals before placing them into caliper bores. Before installing the brake caliper on the vehicle use the brake caliper Piston boot seal installer (J 45515) to properly seat the Piston dust boot seal after installing both the caliper Piston and new Piston dust boot seal.
