2003 Cadillac Escalade Brake Line Parts and Q&A
Q: How to replace the rear brake line on 2003 Cadillac Escalade?
A: Begin brake hose replacement by lifting and propping up the vehicle followed by taking off its tire and wheel components. After clearing dirt from both brake parts put rubber caps on the exposed pipe end to prevent further brake contamination. To disconnect the brake hose safely twist the back up wrench into the brake pipe fitting while plugging or capping of the exposed end. Take off the brake hose retaining clip from its bracket and remove the brake hose through the bracket. Twist loose the brake hose to caliper bolt on the brake caliper and discard the 2 stuck copper brake hose gaskets. Install the brake hose bolt to the brake hose with 2 new gaskets and fit in the brake hose to caliper bolt with 2 new washers. Tighten the bolt to 40 n.m (30 lb ft) with proper brake hose alignment. Fasten the brake hose into its designated mounting bracket by placing the brake hose retaining clip over it. Secure the brake pipe fitting end with a wrench at the brake hose end. Keep the mounting bracket and brake pipe from bending as you connect the brake pipe end to the brake hose and tighten it to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Seal and install the tire assembly back onto the vehicle and check if the brake hose has contact with suspension or tire parts. Correct problems before lowering the vehicle.
