2005 Chevrolet SSR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2005 Chevrolet SSR?
A: Before installing the new vacuum booster you must engage the parking brake and disconnect the master cylinder. Pull off both vacuum lines from the engine and vacuum booster before taking out the trim hinge panel. Separate the brake pedal Pushrod retainer from its connection and detach the stop lamp switch assembly with the Pushrod from its place on the brake pedal pin. Remove vacuum booster bolts first then take off the assembly piece including the gasket. Place the gasket and vacuum booster assembly while fitting its mounting nuts properly. Tighten the nuts to 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). Insert the stop lamp switch onto the Pushrod then put it in place on the brake pedal pin before pressing the Pushrod retainer onto its seat. Put back the trim piece and attach the vacuum line to both the vacuum booster and engine before installing the master cylinder.
