How to replace the endgate emblem/nameplate on 2005 GMC Canyon?

You need these tools to replace the endgate emblem/nameplate on the Canyon: Heat Gun (J 25070) plus the 3M scotch brite and 3M P/N 07501 molding adhesive remover disk. Set the emblem in place before you apply protective tape across the tailgate emblem. Position the Heat Gun model J 25070 at 152 mm away from the surface and move the heat gently over the emblem/nameplate for about 30 seconds. Gently extract the emblem/nameplate using a plastic designed tool while you thoroughly dissolve adhesive residue on the tailgate surface and back of the emblem/nameplate through use of the adhesive remover pad (3M(TM) P/N 07501). Rub VMP naptha product for varnish makers and painters over the tailgate surface. Apply tape to an undefined location and measure these dimensions: 59.5 mm (2.34 in) from the edge, 12.1 mm (0.48 in) from bottom, 5.1 mm (0.2 in) from bottom and 59.4 mm (2.34 in) from edge to position the emblem/nameplate. Warm the tailgate using the Heat Gun until it reaches a minimum temperature of 21°C (70°F) while being careful to avoid the adhesive backing behind the emblem/nameplate. Apply the front end of the emblem/nameplate to the tailgate surface without backing and keep removing the backing until it sticks properly. Use soft hands to press the emblem/nameplate against the surface while working off all protective film to check for bonding.
