2007 Buick Lucerne Coil Springs Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace Coil Springs on 2007 Buick Lucerne?
A: Before installing a new coil spring begin by lifting and securing the vehicle. Start by removing the wheel and tire followed by placing a proper jack to hold the Control Arm in position. Unclamp the automatic level control air tube attached to the shock before removing the bolts securing the lower shock absorber. First remove the hex nut before using the universal steering linkage puller (J 24319-B) to break apart the adjustment link from the lower Control Arm. Apply gradual pressure to the lower Control Arm so it touches down on the support assembly. To replace the coil spring and insulator use a pry bar beneath the lower Coil Spring Insulator so you can remove both coil spring and insulator together. Lower downward motion will free up the upper Coil Spring Insulator. Install the upper Coil Spring Insulator to the body before placing the lower Coil Spring Insulator within the Control Arm. Place the coil spring into position while making sure the lower Control Arm has the insulator in its proper seat. After raising the lower Control Arm install all shock absorber retaining bolts with a torque setting of 25 n.m then finish tightening them to 18 lb ft. Screw in the adjustment link to the Control Arm before tightening the retaining nut to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) while simultaneously twisting it an additional 180 degrees. The automatic level control air tube can be reconnected to the shock absorber before reinstalling the tire and wheel followed by the vehicle's descent.
