2008 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2008 Cadillac CTS?
A: The first step to replace the Brake Master Cylinder is to disconnect the electrical connector attached to the master cylinder fluid level sensor. Take out the push nut from the bracket that holds the air inlet panel near the master cylinder stud before you slowly move the bracket to one side. Use brake fluid caps to block the primary brake pipe connection and master cylinder outlet port before removing the master cylinder. Only disconnect the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting. Seal both it and the master cylinder outlet port using caps. Unthread the two master cylinder nuts and extract the master cylinder from its location. You should bleed a new master cylinder on a workbench before installing it. Attach the master cylinder onto the vacuum Brake Booster and tighten its mounting nuts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Seal the secondary master cylinder brake pipe with a fitting and fasten it to 32 n.m (24 lb ft). Next, connect the primary brake pipe fitting and tighten it to this torque measurement as well. Resolder the master cylinder fluid sensor connector as you turn the air inlet panel. Position the support bracket on the master cylinder mounting stud before fastening the air inlet push nut. Close the hydraulic brake system bleed ports to finish the process.
