How to replace the front brake calipers on 2008 Cadillac XLR?

Before starting the job check the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid level. Keep the fluid between its minimum and maximum limits. Put the vehicle on stands and take off the tires and wheels before starting the replacement. You should now detach the caliper inlet bolt and brake hose from the caliper while getting rid of the two copper brake hose gaskets. These parts may have stuck to either the hose end. After plugging and sealing the caliper and hose ports secure the brake caliper guide pin bolts and pull the caliper away from its bracket. If you spot damage on your caliper slide boots you need to replace both components together. Place the brake caliper on the caliper bracket and fix it there with the guide pin bolts tightened to 31 n.m (23 lb ft). Insert new copper brake hose gaskets into the brake caliper opening and brake hose before you put back the brake caliper inlet fitting bolt to the brake hose. Secure the brake hose and inlet fitting bolt to the caliper after bolting them and tighten the bolt to 45 n.m (33 lb ft). You must empty hydraulic fluid from the brake system afterward you put back the tire and wheel set.
