2008 Chevrolet HHR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake drum on 2008 Chevrolet HHR?
A: Start your Brake Drum replacement project with full release of the parking brake followed by lifting and supporting the vehicle. Take off both the tire and wheel first then proceed to remove the Brake Drum. When installing a new Brake Drum use j 41013 (J 41013) kit to remove rust or corrosion from the Brake Drum hub/flange mating surface. Also trim rusted areas from the drum braking surface as needed to complete the install process. Clean the wheel hub flange using the j 42450-a wheel hub resurfacing kit (J 42450-A). When putting on a new Brake Drum the safest cleaning agent is denatured alcohol which you should apply with a clean shop towel. Put the brake drums in position and set them up before putting back the tire and wheel unit. Press the brakes three times gently to position and center the brake shoes inside the drum after putting the vehicle down.
