How to replace the left side exhaust manifold on a V6 engine on 2009 Cadillac CTS?

The first step for left side Exhaust Manifold (V6) replacement is to remove the Exhaust Manifold heat shield. First remove the lower intermediate Steering Shaft after which you should remove oil level indicator and tube from the system. The fuel system requires removal of the two components starting with the Exhaust Manifold followed by the Catalytic Converter before discarding the Exhaust Manifold Gasket. Cleaning and inspecting surfaces of an Exhaust Manifold becomes necessary before reuse. A new Exhaust Manifold Gasket must be placed on the Exhaust Manifold before installation onto the Cylinder Head with Exhaust Manifold bolts receiving a torque of 20 nm (15 lb ft). The Catalytic Converter seal and heat shield surface needs replacement if it shows wear or damage. After installing the Catalytic Converter onto the Exhaust Manifold the technician should install the lower intermediate Steering Shaft and then mount the oil level indicator and tube. The repair work ends by mounting the Exhaust Manifold heat shield while checking the exhaust system for leaks.
