2010 Chevrolet Cobalt A/C Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in the Air Conditioning Compressor on 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: The first step to replace the air conditioning compressor hose is to recover refrigerant from the system. Raise the vehicle while disconnecting the charge air cooler outlet pipe. The first step to replace the air conditioning compressor hose includes disconnecting the electrical connector from the pressure transducer while also removing the compressor and condenser hose assembly bolt from the compressor before removing the hose assembly. Remove both sealing washers from the hose fittings then detach the compressor hose from the condenser where you should discard those sealing washers too. The compressor hose nut must be removed while the vehicle is lowered down to access the evaporator hose. You need to first remove the wiring harness from the compressor hose bracket followed by the bolt from that bracket while discarding the seal washer. New sealing washers should be used during compressor and condenser hose fitting installation. Secure the A/C Compressor and condenser hose assembly to the compressor by using the provided bolt then tighten it to 20 nm (15 lb ft). Dielectric grease the new seal washer installed on the compressor hose before attaching it to the evaporator hose with its nut secured at 20 nm (15 lb ft). Install the bolt that holds the compressor hose bracket after connecting the wiring harness to it. Tighten the bolt to 20 nm (15 lb ft). After raising the car once more put a new seal washer on the compressor hose to prepare for connection to the condenser with the bolt that needs to be fastened to 20 nm (15 lb ft). After replacing the charge air cooler outlet pipe the technician should reconnect the pressure transducer electrical connector then lower the vehicle then reinstall the pipe. Complete the evacuation and charging process followed by a leak test on fittings through usage of the j 39400-a halogen leak detector.
