Begin by removing the upper tilt head assembly wire harness strap then detach the sir steering wheel module air bag clock spring retaining clip and the sir steering wheel module air bag clock spring itself. Take the wave washer out from the upper shaft of the steering column. Put the block tooth of the upper shaft at 12 o'clock position before placing the wave washer on the upper shaft. The sir steering wheel module air bag clock spring needs centering because unsupported steering column movement or lower centering spring force can move the coil off position. Place the sir steering wheel module air bag clock spring in alignment with the horn tower on the turn signal cancel cam before installing this pre-centered coil onto the upper shaft.
