To replace the air bag clock spring, it must first disable the sir system. Finalize the removal of the air bag clock spring along with the steering wheel nut by keeping track of alignment mark on the Steering Shaft as well as the steering wheel. Pull out the tilt lever and remove the tilt lever assembly with the steering wheel. Next, remove two pan head tapping screws from lower shroud and take off the lower shroud. Take off one torx(R) head screw from the upper shroud, and remove the upper shroud from the assembly. Pull the wire harness strap from the steering wheel column wire harness, next to remove the retaining ring and the air bag clock spring from the Steering Shaft. In case of installation, be sure that the wheels are positioned straight and center the block tooth and centering mark on the race and upper shaft assembly at the 12 'o clock position. A new sir coil assembly will be pre-centered, therefore, check the centering. Mount sir coil assembly in the horn tower on the turn signal cancel cam assembly, apply wave washer to upper shaft assembly, slide the coil assembly into the race and upper shaft assembly (discarding the centering tab), apply the retaining ring, and attach the upper shroud with torx(R) head screw to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in), the lower shroud with two pan head tapping screws tightened to 3.5 n.m (31 lb in). Position and slide in the tilt lever to the steering column until they lock, thread the wiring through the steering wheel, align the Steering Shaft so that the steering ring is with the mark on the Steering Shaft, and install the steering nut-tightening to 41 n.m (30 lb ft). Connect the wiring to sir module, install the air bag clock spring, and enable the sir system.
