Buick Rainier Control Arm Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear axle upper control arm on Buick Rainier?
A: First properly raise and support the vehicle to perform the replacement on the rear axle upper control arm after removing the tire along with the wheel assembly and wheelhouse panel. To begin the rear axle upper control arm replacement the vehicle needs to be supported at its designed D-height after dropping air suspension pressure and removing the air suspension leveling sensor. Start with the rear axle upper control arm to axle mounting nut and bolt until they come off. After that remove the rear axle upper control arm to frame mounting bolt and pull out the rear axle upper control arm. Position the rear axle upper control arm first then secure it with a frame mounting bolt followed by an axle mounting nut and bolt which both require a torque of 131 Nm (97 ft. lbs.). Reinstall the rear axle upper control arm air suspension leveling sensor link when your vehicle has air suspension. To finish up the installation disconnect the rear axle support system before putting the wheelhouse panel back in place and reattaching the tire and wheel. Then lower the vehicle to the ground.
