Buick Rainier Ignition Lock Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on Buick Rainier?
A: Begin the Ignition Lock Cylinder replacement process by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable and disabling the sir system while following all safety protocols. Drain the hush and knee bolster before you remove steering column trim covers. Insert an allen wrench into the hole above the lock cylinder housing with the key in run position then push down to drop the tab so the lock cylinder can slide out. You can begin installation by putting the key into the lock cylinder followed by rotating the lock cylinder housing gear clockwise with a screwdriver to reach the start position until it spring back into run. Position the gears from Ignition Switch to lock cylinder housing correctly to avoid no start and battery drain issues. After aligning the lock cylinder, install it into the housing before reinstalling the steering column trim covers along with the hush pad and knee bolster. Reconnect the negative Battery Cable after you have enabled the sir system.
