Buick Rainier Power Steering Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Power Steering Reservoir on Buick Rainier?
A: First set the hydraulic pump on a steady flat surface with its shaft pointed upward for replacement of the Power Steering Reservoir. A screwdriver should be used to extend the retaining clip tab and let the reservoir clip move away from the hydraulic pump assembly. First remove the second reservoir clip through this same procedure and then pull out the reservoir from the hydraulic pump housing. The O-ring seal must be taken out from either inside the hydraulic pump housing or directly from the reservoir neck. The assembly process requires power steering fluid lubrication of the O-ring seal before installing it on the reservoir neck. Install the reservoir onto the hydraulic pump assembly by making sure the reservoir neck enters completely into position. Set the reservoir feet parallel to the hydraulic pump housing sides then install the new clips provided with precise retention through complete engagement between retaining clip hooks and hydraulic pump structure.
