How to Service and Repair the Control Arm on Cadillac CTS?

To replace the upper Control Arm, first, lift and support the vehicle, and the tire and wheel to be removed. Next, pull out the brake caliper with the mounting bracket in place, suspending it with mechanics wire. Next, remove the brake caliper mounting bracket and the shock absorber. Loosen the upper Ball Joint retaining nut off the knuckle, and using the j 43631 (Ball Joint Remover), separate the upper Ball Joint from the upper Control Arm. Go ahead and remove the upper Control Arm nuts and bolts from the frame, and then remove the upper Control Arm. For installation, align the upper Control Arm in the frame and make sure that the mounting bolts and the pins are screwed up to 120nm (88 lb ft). Mount the upper Ball Joint onto the knuckle and bolt it with 20 nm (15 lb ft) plus another 210 degrees turn. Mount the brake caliper mounting bracket and shock absorber and replace the tire and the wheel assembly. Finally, take away the support and drop the vehicle, and then inspect the rear wheel alignment.
