How to replace the lower control arm on front-wheel drive on 2010 Cadillac CTS?

Front-wheel drive vehicles require a two-step procedure starting with vehicle support while elevated followed by wheel removal and tire dismantling. First step in the replacement process involves detaching the stabilizer shaft link from the lower Control Arm before removing the shock assembly lower retaining bolts. Rear-wheel drive vehicles need their Shock Absorber yoke separated from the lower Control Arm. On all-wheel drive vehicles remove Steering Knuckle retaining nuts from the outer tie rod. There should be two steps to start this procedure: first remove the abs wire harness from the lower Control Arm and then unfasten the lower Control Arm mounting nuts and bolts from both front and rear positions. First lower the Control Arm to reach the lower Ball Joint area. Remove the front lower Control Arm front nut then use the j 43631 (Ball Joint Remover) to extract the lower Ball Joint from the Steering Knuckle before removing the Control Arm from the vehicle. After positioning the lower Control Arm install mounting bolts in front and rear positions, tighten the front bolt to 200 nm (148 lb ft) while the rear bolt requires 320 nm (236 lb ft). Reinstall the abs wire harness and join the lower Ball Joint to the Steering Knuckle before tightening the new front lower Control Arm front nut to 40 nm (30 lb ft) and making a 120-degree additional turn. After connecting the outer tie rod end to the Steering Knuckle you should install its corresponding nut. The shock assembly lower retaining bolts should be installed when working with rear-wheel drive vehicles while all-wheel drive vehicles require installation of the Shock Absorber yoke from the lower Control Arm. The stabilization link gets connected to the lower Control Arm at which point you should adjust the lower Control Arm to achieve z height before returning the tire and wheel assembly and lowering the vehicle to perform final alignment of the front end.
