- Q: What tools are required to replace the RH Differential Cover and seal on Cadillac XLR?A:In order to replace the Differential carrier cover and seal from the right side, the following tools are necessary: dt-47596 bearing cup remover (DT-47596), j 42168-16 spacers (J 42168-16), and j 42170 bearing and race installer, (J 42170), j 45124 removal bridge (J 45124), and j 46405 output shaft seal installer (J 46405). First, take out the right rear wheel drive shaft and also right rear Muffler assembly and also remove the Differential fluid from the Differential assembly and support the cast. Next, take out the right Differential mount, retaining bolts, and push out the dowel pin and take off the Differential Cover. Install the axle seal on j 46405 and install the rear axle Differential with the proper fluid and end up with the rear right Muffler and the rear right wheel drive shaft.
