The Chevrolet HHR Brake Line is used on the hydraulic brakes to supply brake fluid from the master cylinder to the brake caliper pistons. They are likely to deteriorate by corrosion, or being affected by impact that can make the brake fluid leak and affect the pressure. Brake hoses can also wear physically and internally and cause brake problems. If replacement is required, there are pre-bend brake line kits or you can use new corrosion resistant stainless steel brake line. Moving to SS brake lines enhances the brake pedal feel and offering a firmer feel when cornering or spirited driving.

Chevrolet HHR Brake Line Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line (Caliper) on Chevrolet HHR?
    A:
To change the rear brake hose begin by lifting the vehicle above ground then removing its wheels, tires, and supports. Thoroughly clean and clear all the brake pipe fitting and brake hose ends of foreign debris. Thread a back up wrench onto the hose fitting then unscrew it from the brake pipe fitting while using brake fluid caps to block both ends. Take off the brake hose retention clip from its mount where it connects to the hose bracket to remove the hose. To proceed disassemble the brake caliper by taking out its hose fitting bolt and keep the brass brake hose gaskets. Cover or seal the opening at both the brake caliper and brake hose fittings. To install the part you must first remove caps and then put on new copper brake hose gaskets onto the brake hose before assembling the brake hose fitting bolt with gaskets. Secure the brake hose assembly to the brake caliper by torquing the bolt to 48 n.m (35 lb ft). Place the brake hose over the mounting bracket with its opening lined up directly to the notch before placing the retaining clip into position. Connect the brake system input at the rear brake hose using a back up tool and tighten the fitting to 21 n.m (15 lb ft). Reattach the tire and wheel but keep the hose free from touching the suspension components. Fix any contact issues. Finish by evacuating the hydraulic brake system and letting the car drop to the ground.
