    A plain orientation of the Steering Wheel requires either a steering column anti-rotation pin, a steering column lock, or a strap to stop wheel rotation so the sir system will remain intact. Move forward by protecting the Steering Wheel first and then remove the left front tire along with assembly. The steering gear requires the removal of its intermediate shaft bolt before disconnecting the intermediate Steering Shaft from the steering gear. Place scribe marks on both shafts to maintain accurate alignment. Take out the intermediate Steering Shaft bolt from the steering column before disconnecting the intermediate Steering Shaft from the steering column shaft. Unseating the intermediate Steering Shaft seal from the body pass-through allows you to remove the intermediate Steering Shaft and seal assembly from the vehicle. Before you install the new intermediate Steering Shaft bolts make sure to clean their threads with denatured alcohol before applying gm threadlocker or medium-strength loctite(TM) 242 blue to the bolts. Apply previous scribed marks to a new intermediate Steering Shaft installation. Position the intermediate Steering Shaft and seal assembly within the vehicle with its seal correctly positioned while matching the intermediate Steering Shaft scribe marks with the steering column shaft scribe marks. Connect the intermediate Steering Shaft to the steering gear followed by installation of the second new intermediate Steering Shaft bolt and torquing it to 34 nm (25 lb ft). Reinstall the left front wheel along with its tire component. Additionally if your vehicle has rpo jl4 you must perform a calibration of the Steering Angle Sensor.
