How to replace the A/C Clutch assembly on Chevrolet Monte Carlo?

Some of the equipment needed to do away with the compressor clutch assembly yourself are; compressor clutch holding tool (J 37872) and snap ring pliers (J 6083). Start by unbolt the compressor and throwing away the compressor clutch plate bolt and hold the compressor clutch plate to prevent its rotation with the compressor clutch holding tool(J 37872). Three adjustable dowels should be taken out from compressor clutch holding tool (J 37872) and replaced by three 5/16 x 1 inch bolts. Now remove the compressor clutch plate and then reapirs using the snap ring pliers (J 6083) to detach the compressor pulley snap ring and later the compressor pulley. Once more, take the part of snap ring pliers (J 6083) to remove the compressor clutch coil snap before removing the compressor clutch coil. For a clean installation, clean the threads of the clutch plate bolts using m6x1.0 tap and blow it with compressed air. Mount the compressor clutch coil, then, apply the compressor clutch coil snap ring with the help of the snap ring pliers (J 6083). Fasten the compressor pulley and its snap ring again using the snap ring pliers (J 6083). Put a little oil on the 0.4 mm (0.016 in) air gap shim and put in into the clutch drive plate prior to putting in the compressor clutch plate. Make measurements of the air gap between the pulley and the drive plate and modify the shims to come to an air gap, of 0.3 mm to 0.6mm (0.012 to 0.024 in) such that the drive plate will not drag on the pulley. Locate the installation of the bolt of the clutch drive plate while ensuring that the new bolt has a colored adhesive of at least 5 of its threads, then tighten it further with 12 n. M (106 lb in) with the use of compressor clutch holding tool (J 37872) by placing the compressor clutch plate in the holding region. Finally reinstall the compressor and conduct a leak test on the fittings as per leak test tool (J 39400-A).
