Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Oxygen Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Bank 1 Sensor 2 on Chevrolet Silverado 3500?
A: To replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Bank 1 Sensor 2, initially raise and aid the motor vehicle. If equipped, disconnect the fuel composition sensor electrical connector as well as the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer. In case a fuel composition sensor is available, there is need of removing the HO2S from the fuel line clip's electrical connector. For engines with 4.8 liters and 5.3 liters of engine, remove the HO2S electric connector, while for engines that are 6.0L, do the same. Remove the HO2S. During installation, apply anti-seize compound GM P/N 12377953 on the old sensor's threads if it is being reused because new sensors arrive pre-coated. Carry out the installation of the HO2S and tighten it with a value of 42 N.m (31 lb ft). Connect the HO2S electrical connector for 6.0L, perform the same for 4.8L or 5.3L. If a fuel composition sensor is equipped, connect the HO2S to electrical connector to the fuel line clip, resnap the CPA retainer, and finally, connect the fuel composition sensor electrical connector before lowering the vehicle.
