A: Take off the Starter motor by first removing the negative Battery Cable. Lift the vehicle and then remove the oil pan skid plate if you have it. Next, take out the transmission cover bolt and Starter bolts. Unplug the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the oil level sensor, without allowing the Starter to hang off the cables or wires; instead, do not use a rope or mechanics wire for support. Slide the Starter forward until it clears the transmission and supports it correctly. Lower the vehicle halfway, unscrew the right front wheel and tire. To remove Starter engine wiring harness lead nut and lead terminal from the Starter, working through the right wheel well opening. You need to remove the Starter solenoid cable clip bolt off the frame and the solenoid cable nut and solenoid cable of the Starter. Pull the Starter from the wheel well opening. When replacing the Starter, unsnap transmission cover and eliminate the Starter heat shield. For installation replace the Starter heat shield and snap in the transmission cover onto the Starter. Install the Starter from the wheel well opening and connect the wire from the Starter solenoid to the Starter attaching the nut and tightening it only 9 nm (80 lb in). Attach the Starter solenoid cable clip to the frame and tighten the clip bolt up to 10 nm (89 lb in). Install engine wiring harness lead terminal to the Starter and connect lead nut with 3.4 nm (30 lb in) torque. Start position by placing the Starter in the position and installing bolts on Starter and tightening to the coils of 50 nm (37 lb ft). Remove and reinstall the right front wheel & tire, lift the vehicle, and hook the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the oil level sensor. Finally install the transmission cover bolt that has to be manually tight at 9 nm (80lb in) if equipped, reinstall the oil pan skid plate, reconnect the negative cable.
