    Q:
How to replace the catalytic converter on the right side for the 6.0L engine on GMC Savana 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
In order to replace the Catalytic Converter on the right side of the 6.0l engine, start by raising the vehicle. Remove threads for the Oxygen Sensor connectors and unwrap the exhaust hanger locking left bolts and hanger from the car. Pull off the nuts that hold the Exhaust Pipe flange to the Catalytic Converter pipe, and loosen off the nut that holds the Exhaust Pipe clamp to the Muffler. Then, take out the Exhaust Pipe and flange gasket. For installation, the oxygen sensors additionally need to be pulled out and then insert the old ones into the new Exhaust Pipe. Screw them up tightly to 42 nm (31 lb ft). Next, install a new gasket to the Catalytic Converter pipe flange and then attach the Exhaust Pipe to the vehicle. Tighten the nuts on the Catalytic Converter pipe to the Exhaust Pipe unto 48 nm (35 lb ft) and tighten the Exhaust Pipe clamp nut unto 54 nm (40 lb ft). Check the exhaust system clearance and alignment of all parts, then fix the exhaust hanger and bolts, followed by pulling 17 nm (13 lb ft) before lifting the vehicles.

    Q:
How to replace the catalytic converter on a single exhaust system (4.3L, 4.8L, and 5.3L) on GMC Savana 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace a single exhaust system Catalytic Converter on 4.3l 4.8l and 5.3l vehicles start by lifting the vehicle and disconnecting ho2s electrical connections from the Catalytic Converter pipe. First remove the exhaust hanger bolts and hanger from the transmission before removing the nuts and seals which secure the Catalytic Converter pipe to the exhaust manifolds. Always follow recommended safety precautions throughout this process. Start by taking out the Catalytic Converter from the vehicle after removing the flange nuts which join the catalytic pipe to the Muffler. When required you should disconnect oxygen sensors. Position the catalytic pipe first then mount retaining nuts to the Muffler's front section but leave these nuts loose for now. Starting from the Exhaust Manifold, insert the new seals and nut bolts and flange into position while tightening Exhaust Manifold nuts to 65 n.m and Catalytic Converter-muffler retaining nuts to 48 n.m. Before installation, connect the ho2s electrical connections then use the transmission to mount the exhaust hanger and fasten its bolts with 17 n.m (13 lb ft) torque. Verify the exhaust system's alignment against all components before lowering the vehicle to complete the installation.
