The first thing to do for replacing the front side door emblem/nameplate is to put tape around the space, making it easier to keep the emblem lined up. Set the heat gun (J 25070) 6.0 inches away from the surface and move it in circles around the emblem/nameplate for half a minute. Make sure to use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to remove the emblem/nameplate and keep the paint safe. Once you've removed the emblem/nameplate, go over the door panel surface and its back with 3M(TM) Scotch Brite Molding Adhesive Remover Disk (3M(TM) P/N If the emblem/nameplate location is not labeled, use tape to help you align it. Heat the door panel again using the heat gun (J 25070) until it's a minimum of 21°C (70°F), making sure the glue side of the emblem/nameplate stays cool. Take off the backing from the front end of the emblem/nameplate and stick it to the door panel surface as you keep taking off the rest of the backing. Hand roll the emblem/nameplate to ensure it sticks well and look at it to see if it is bonded before removing the tape from around the door emblem.

Mark at 47.5 mm +/- 2 mm (1.9 in +/- 0.1 in) from the vertical edge and 200.5 mm +/- 2 mm (7.9 in +/- 0.1 in) from the horizontal edge.

Carefully peel the emblem/nameplate from the panel with a flat-bladed plastic tool.

Remove all adhesive from the body panel and the back of the emblem/nameplate with 3M(R) P/N 07501 or an equivalent.

Detach the emblem from the radiator grille.

Peel the backing from the adhesive tape, align the emblem/nameplate with the masking tape or magnetic strip, and firmly press it into place for 30 seconds to ensure proper adhesion before removing the masking tape or magnetic strip.

Use 3M(R) General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner 08984 or an equivalent, followed by wiping the panel with a clean lint-free cloth and a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water.

Warm the door surface with the heat gun (J 25070) to a minimum of 21°C (70°F), ensuring not to touch the adhesive backing of the emblem/nameplate.

Wash it with soap and water, then dry it with a lint-free cloth.

Use a heat gun (J 25070) positioned 152 mm (6.0 in) from the surface to heat the emblem/nameplate in a circular motion for about 30 seconds.

Apply tape for guidance.

Apply a double-coated acrylic foam tape such as 3M(R) Super Automotive Attachment Tape, with options including 3M(R) 06380 (white backing), 3M(R) 06377 (black backing), or 3M(R) 06382 (gray backing).

Peel the backing from the adhesive tape, align the emblem/nameplate with the masking tape or magnetic strip, and firmly press it into place for 30 seconds to ensure proper adhesion, then remove the masking tape or magnetic strip from the right rear door.
