    Q:
How to service the oxygen sensor properly on Chevrolet K3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Requirements for servicing the Oxygen Sensor include using the right tool, dealing with the sensor with care and ensuring the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S), the louvered end and all connectors are not contaminated. Do not take the pigtail off the ho2s or Oxygen Sensor (02S), since this will reduce the sensor's effectiveness. In case the pigtail, connector or terminal is broken, you should replace the Oxygen Sensor, since it's best not to fix these types of problems yourself. Contact cleaner should not be applied to the sensor or to the connector harness and the sensor pigtail and harness wires should not be exposed or bent, as this might result in problems with performance. Leave the Oxygen Sensor ground wire in place, because it could be essential for the sensor and double-check the seal on the connector in order to avoid water getting inside the wiring. It may be hard to remove the ho2s if the engine is not warm enough and applying strong force might damage the threads in the exhaust system. At first, remove the negative Battery Cable and then lift the vehicle before taking out the ho2s sensor connector heat shield, if it exists. Remove the ho2s sensor harness next and then take out the heated Oxygen Sensor using the j 39194 wrench carefully. Coat the threads of the Oxygen Sensor with gm p/n 5613695 or an equivalent, put the sensor in place with the wrench and tighten to 41 n.m (30 lb ft). Afterward, install the ho2s sensor harness connector, fit a heat shield if it's required, lower the vehicle to the ground and place the negative Battery Cable back where it came from.

    Q:
How to service and repair the oxygen sensor on GMC Jimmy? Posted by Customer
    A:
The j 39194 Oxygen Sensor wrench (J 39194) serves for taking out the Oxygen Sensor for servicing. Treat the Oxygen Sensor with extreme care by completely avoiding contact with cleaning solvents or grease or dirt because such substances could degrade the sensor function. Keep the pigtail attached to the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) as well to the Oxygen Sensor (O2S). Also check that all wiring and connector systems remain intact without any damage since sensor replacement will be needed in case of any damage. The removal of the sensor ground wire can cause the engine to perform poorly therefore it needs to be kept intact. Work on the ho2s sensor only when the engine reaches 48°c (120°F) because lower temperatures could harm Exhaust Manifold and pipe threads. To begin the replacement task you should start by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable followed by finding the ho2s and proceeding to raise the vehicle and disconnect the ho2s harness connector. Remove the ho2s using the tool designated j 39194 (J 39194). Before installing the ho2s apply anti-seize compound to the sensor threads if needed followed by tightening the ho2s to 42 n.m (31 lb ft). After lowering the vehicle the ho2s harness connector can be reconnected followed by negative Battery Cable reinstallation.

    Q:
How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) for Bank 2 on GMC C2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
While replacing the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) for the left bank 2, take care of the device as the in-line electric connector and louvered end should be free of grease, dirt, or contamination and do not apply any cleaning solvents. Too much force on removal might damage the threads of the Exhaust Pipe, and it might be possible to lower the exhaust system to have enough access. Start by lifting the vehicle and identifying the ho2s to be replaced. Remove the ho2s electrical connector and remove the sensor carefully. While installing the new sensor, apply anti-seize compound gm p/n 5613695 to the threads if required, since the compound will be helpful in future removal. Install the heated Oxygen Sensor and tighten it on 41 n.m (30 lb ft) and reconnecting the electrical connector and lowering the vehicle.
