    Q:
How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on Buick Rainier? Posted by Customer
    A:
Collect the essential tools for the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring replacement: valve stem seal remover and installer (J 38820), camshaft sprocket holding tool (J 44222), and valve spring compressor (J 44228). Start by removing the cam cover and spark plugs before taking out the exhaust and intake sprocket bolts. Put on the Camshaft sprocket holding tool (J 44222) to keep Timing Chain parts secure during replacement and apply both horizontal bolts into Camshaft sprockets to keep chain tension. Reverse the camshafts by separating their sprockets and timing chains while taking out the Camshaft bolt caps to organize them for later use. After taking off the Camshaft caps you need to compress the valve using a valve spring compressor (J 44228) with a suitable air cylinder adapter. Take out the valve keys and place the valve spring compressor (J 44228) next. Put the valve spring retainer and valve in the same direction. The valve stem seal remover and installer-tool j 38820 helps you remove seals before you clean and inspect the Cylinder Head. Insert sealed valve seals into the valve stems with the valve stem seal remover and installer (J 38820) after oiling them with the clean engine oil. Install the valve spring and valve spring retainer last. Store 80% valve spring compression using the valve spring compressor (J 44228) while you put on valve keys above the spring retainer and off the tool. As you put back the camshafts, apply clean engine oil to their joints plus the thrust plate and Camshaft top. After tightening caps to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.) reinstall the sprocket components and remove the Camshaft sprocket holding tool (J 44222). Put on the intake Camshaft sprocket washer and bolt along with the exhaust Camshaft actuator bolt. Tighten the intake Camshaft sprocket bolt at 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) during the initial stage before finishing the installation with the torque wrench (J 36660-A) at 100°. Use the torque wrench j 36660-a on the exhaust Camshaft actuator bolt for an additional 135° after screwing it in by hand to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Place the spark plugs into their designated locations and put on the Camshaft cover last.

    Q:
How to service and repair the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and Valve Stem Oil Seal on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
After supporting the vehicle you must raise it before taking off the service slot plug. Put the en 46547 Flywheel holding tool on the Flywheel teeth before lowering the vehicle to the ground. Move forward by taking off valve rocker arms and spark plugs first. Place the j 44228 base plate over the Spark Plug hole of the servicing cylinder and insert the j 39313 Spark Plug port adapter in its place. Keep the valve closed using continuous air pressure on the j 39313 before you mount the j 44228 arm and swivel nut on the appropriate j 44228 stud. Take proper safety measures because valve spring compression creates strong pressure against the tool. Turn the j 44228's swivel nut softly to reveal the valve locks. A magnet proves useful for taking the valve locks out. To remove the valve spring use the j 44228 by unscrewing its swivel nut to pivot and detach the valve spring retainer and spring. Push the j 38820 valve stem seal installer onto the old valve stem seal to twist and pull it out for measurement and inspection of the valve spring. Apply engine oil to the valve stem and new seal's inner diameter. Put a seal protector on the valve stem before using the j 38820 to install the valve stem seal gently as you push and turn the tool. Slide the arm tool over the valve holder while tightening the swivel nut until you can set the valve locks into place using tool 43059. Take off both parts of the j 44228 then perform this same procedure for other cylinder valves. When work is completed you must release air pressure after disconnecting the j 39313 from the Spark Plug hole and taking off the base plate of j 44228. Finish by putting in both spark plugs and valve rocker arms then hoist and hold the car before taking off the teeth lock from the Flywheel and replacing it with the service plug.

    Q:
How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring replacement by raising and supporting the vehicle. Insert the en 46547 into Flywheel teeth by taking out the service slot plug before lowering the vehicle onto the ground. Take out both valve rocker arms and spark plugs first. Rest the j 44228 (J 44228) base plate over the Spark Plug opening of the chosen cylinder while placing j 39313 (J 39313) in the plug hole to create constant air pressure that keeps the valve sealed. Secure the arm and swivel nut of the j 44228 (J 44228) onto the valve stud but restrict the tightening to just enough for valve lock extraction. A magnet takes out the valve locks while you loosen the swivel nut before swinging the arm of j 44228 (J 44228) away from the valve spring retainer to take out both the valve spring retainer and spring. Twist and pull the j38820 tool to take out the valve stem seal and toss the worn part. Apply engine oil to both parts of the valve stem and new seal's inner circumference before installing a seal protector then inserting the j 38820 tool to place the new seal. After installing the valve spring retainer and spring position the j 44228 arm over the parts. Tighten its swivel nut a little to give room for valve lock placement. Place the valve locks into position through the j 43059 tool then take off the j 44228 swivel nut and arm. After servicing all valves complete the process by getting rid of trapped air pressure and taking out the j 39313 (J 39313) from the Spark Plug throat. Complete the process by installing the spark plugs and valve rocker arms at the base plate of the j 44228. Then lift the vehicle again for service slot plug and en 46547 telemetry removal.

    Q:
How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on GMC Envoy? Posted by Customer
    A:
Get the tools needed to change the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve springs: j 38820 (Valve Stem Seal Remover and Installer), j 44222 (Camshaft Sprocket Holding Tool), and j 44228 (Valve Spring Compressor). Start by taking off the cam cover, spark plugs, exhaust, and intake sprocket bolts. Mount the j 44222 on the Cylinder Head such that the timing chain parts are not disturbed to align the two horizontal bolts to the Camshaft sprockets in order to keep chains in a tense state. Carefully move the sprockets, timing-chain off the camshafts, removing the Camshaft cap bolts and Camshaft caps in a rack for reinstallation. Next, remove Camshaft caps and camshfts, apply air pressure to the cylinder using a convenient adapter and then install the j 44228 in order to compress the valve. The valve keys and the j 44228 are removed, then the valve spring retainer and the valve. Use j 38820 to break the seals, clean and check the Cylinder Head. For the installation, lubricate valve stems using clean engine oil, j 38820 for valve seals installation and the valve spring and retainer will be installed. Compress the valve springs using the j 44228, valve keys, and then remove j 44228. Let out the air pressure in the cylinder, apply clean engine oil to the Camshaft journals, thrust face and to the Camshaft lobes and place the camshafts back into their original positions. Tighten the Camshaft cap bolts to 12 nm (106 inch lb.) while repositioning the Camshaft sprockets onto the camshafts and pull out the j 44222. Install the intake cam shaft sprocket washer bolt and exhaust cam shaft actuator bolt and tighten the intake cam shaft sprocket bolt to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs. ) on the first pass and then the final pass tighten it an additional 100 degs. With the j 36660 a. Tighten the exhaust Camshaft actuator bolt to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs) in the first, and 135° further in the final, using j 36660-a. Finally, fit the spark plugs and cam shaft cover.

    Q:
How to Change the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit? What Are the Steps Involved on a GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
The process to replace the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring requires vehicle elevation before removing the service slot plug. Position the en 46547 into the Flywheel teeth before lowering the vehicle. Separate the valve rocker arms from the vehicle then remove the spark plugs. After applying the j 44228 (J 44228) base plate to the Spark Plug hole position of the serviced cylinder, insert the j 39313 (J 39313) into the Spark Plug hole while maintaining constant air pressure to keep the valve closed. Fasten the j 44228 arm with its swivel nut onto the appropriate valve stud ensuring all valve springs are handled with due caution. Once the swivel nut reaches adequate tightness for valve lock access you can extract the locks with a magnetic tool. Swinging the arm with loose swivel nut removes both the valve spring retainer and the valve spring. The j 38320 (J 38320) tool helps users retrieve and measure the valve spring and remove the old valve stem seal while twisting and pulling. The new valve stem requires a clean application of engine oil both on the valve stem surface and inside of the installation area. After lubrication place a seal protector over the valve stem before using the j 38320 tool to apply the new seal. Set the valve spring retainer and spring aside before swinging the j 44228 arm over the retainer to just tighten the swivel nut enough to insert the valve locks. Use the j 43059 (J 43059) to position valve locks on the valve and then remove the j 44228's swivel nut and arm. Rinse the j 39313 against the Spark Plug hole while relieving the air pressure until all the valves in the cylinder have been serviced to completion. After you remove the base plate of j 44228, set the spark plugs and valve rocker arms correctly before repeating the previous steps to lower the vehicle and install the service slot plug before supporting the vehicle again.
