Turn Signal Switch

The first step to replace the headlamp switch is removing the left side knee bolster and bracket before placing the left side of the instrument panel cluster bezel. You need to detach the electrical connection from the headlamp switch and pull out the switch from the instrument panel cluster trim plate after releasing its retainers. Installation of the new headlamp switch begins with connecting it to the instrument panel cluster trim plate followed by retaining it accurately. Proceed with connecting the electrical connector to the headlamp switch then set the left instrument panel cluster bezel into its proper installed position before installing both knee bolster bracket and bolster on the left side.

The instrument panel cluster trim plate removal along with disconnecting the headlamp switch electrical connection is necessary for installing a new headlamp switch. The headlamp switch release process starts with removing the instrument panel cluster trim plate after releasing its retainers before extracting the headlamp switch from the vehicle. Place the headlamp switch back inside the vehicle through its opening and activate the retainers of the instrument panel cluster trim plate by pushing down on the switch to establish the connection. Reconnect the headlamp switch electrical connector along with putting back the instrument panel cluster trim plate into position.

You need to start by turning off the SIR system before removing both upper and lower trim pieces. Safely reinstall the abrasion sleeve on the steering column wire harness assembly while recording which connector position will be needed during reassembly. Extract the Wire Harness Assembly from the Wire Harness Strap. First disconnect the bulkhead connector which houses the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly connector from the SIR system coil connector. Then carefully pull out both connectors of the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly from the bulkhead connector. Extract the two pan head tapping screws (Pan Head Tapping Screws and ) from the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly ) to pull the assembly out of the steering column tilt head assembly. The turn signal and multifunction switch assembly needs to be placed onto the steering column tilt head assembly while making sure the electrical contact touches the turn signal cancel cam assembly. Secure it with the two pan head tapping screws and , tightening the top screw to 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.) The top screw requires a torque of 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.) and the side screw needs a torque of 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.). Position both connectors into the bulkhead connector then link the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly connector to the SIR coil connector. Place the steering column wire harness assembly back into the wire harness strap after installing the abrasion sleeve correctly and positioning the ignition lock cylinder case wires and connector in their appropriate slots. Reinstall both trim pieces after restoring SIR functionality.

Disable the SIR system and remove the upper and lower trim covers, making sure to write down the connector that's out of the abrasion sleeve on the steering column wire harness assembly to reinstall. Then, remove the wire harness assembly from the wire harness strap and then remove the turn signal & multifunction switch assembly connector from the SIR system coil connector. Pull the two connectors of the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly through the bulkhead connector before forcing the removal of the two pan head tapping screws and and that secure the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly to the steering column tilt head assembly. In installation, apply the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly onto the steering column head tilt assembly so that the electrical contact is in contact with the turn signal cancel cam assembly. Secure it using the two pan head tapping screws and not tightening the top screw to 3 Nm ( 30 inch lbs) and the side screw to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs). Push the two connectors into the bulkhead connector and reconnect turn signal and multifunction switch assembly connector to the SIR coil connector. Replace the abrasion sleeve onto the steering column wire harness assembly and make sure the ignition lock cylinder case wires and connector are placed properly. Lastly, install the wire harness assembly in the wire harness strap, reinstall the upper and lower trim covers, and activate the SIR system.

Take both connectors on the turn signal and switch assembly out of its harness plug. Take out the turn signal and switch assembly from the steering column tilt head unit using the two pan head tapping screws. Position the turn signal and switch assembly on top of the steering column tilt head assembly to let its electrical contact touch the turn signal cancel cam assembly. Use the two pan head screws to fix the assembly in place and tighten them until they reach a torque level of 1 N.m (9 lb in). Push the switch connectors of the switch assembly into the bulkhead connections and join one end to the SIR coil following screw tightening to 6 N.m (53 lb in). Position the steering column wires and connector through the new abrasion sleeve as they should extend beyond the middle section smoothly. Put the wire harness assembly into its slot at the harness strap before adding back the trim panels and enabling the SIR system.

Proceeding with headlamp switch replacement requires removal of the instrument panel cluster trim plate together with disconnecting power from the switch connector. After disconnecting the electrical connector from the headlamp switch you should remove the headlamp switch from its place on the instrument panel cluster trim plate. place the headlamp switch into the vehicle and force it onto the instrument panel cluster trim plate to activate the retainers for proper installation. Rebutton the electrical connector to the switch and replace the instrument panel cluster trim plate afterward.

Install the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly on the steering column tilt head by placing it down and matching the electrical contact to the turn signal cancel cam. Fasten the unit using the two pan head screws and ensure top screw at 3Nm and side screw at 7 Nm torque settings. Insert the two connectors into the bulkhead connector and join the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly connector to SIR coil connector. Put the steering column wire harness assembly back in place by securing it into the harness strap. Keep the ignition lock cylinder case wires and connector in their proper position while inserting the assembly. Put on the upper and lower trim pieces then make the SIR system active again.
