- Q: How to replace the brake line using the J 29803-A ISO Flaring Kit on 2002 Buick Century?A: Instead of brake pipes select J 29803-A ISO Flaring Kit for the installation you must use double-walled steel brake pipe to stop system failure. Route the new brake pipes with care while keeping them in place correctly using the right fasteners where they originally were located to minimize damage. Operating with single lap flaring tools is not advisable since double lap flaring tools generate flares capable of enduring system pressure. First collect tubing and steel fitting nuts with proper sizes and cut tubing to match old pipe length with an additional 3 mm (1/8 inch) allowance for each ISO flare. Apply teh fittings onto the tubing and chafe both the inside and outside diameters with a de-burring tool prior to installation. Filiform the brake pipe and prepare the tool body of the J 29803-A ISO Flaring Kit by cleaning all lubricants and placing it in a vise clamp. First choose the appropriate tool collet with forming mandrel for the chosen pipe size then place the forming mandrel inside the tool body. Maintain your grip on the mandrel before you advance the forcing screw until it reaches the mandrel and then reset the screw one complete full rotation counterclockwise. Affix the clamping nut onto the brake pipe over the chosen collet which should expose 19 mm (3/4 inch) of tubing outside. Snugly secure the clamping nut by pushing the brake pipe end until it touches the forming mandrel face after you insert the collet into the tool body. Tighten the forcing screw until it reaches its limit while maintaining control to stop the threads preventing an inflated flare size. To get the flare operational remove the clamping nut from the tool body before you take apart the clamping nut and collet. End the pipe formation by bending it to the proper shape while keeping a 19 mm (3/4 inch) space around all moving components that might vibrate.
