  • Q: How to replace the auxiliary water pump on a 4.6L (LH2) engine with RPOs V03/V92 on 2005 Cadillac STS?
    A: Draining the coolant comes first when replacing the auxiliary water pump on 4.6L units with V03 and V92 RPOs. The Hose Clamp Pliers model J38185 lets you slide the clamp onto the hose and detach the hose from the auxiliary water pump. Afterward put the hose clamp back over the hose while disconnecting the hose from the auxiliary water pump. You need to unplug the auxiliary water pump electrical connection first before you take out the auxiliary water pump by removing its nuts. Install the new auxiliary water pump by placing it into position and tightening its nuts to 9Nm (80 inch lbs). Connect the water pump electrical power connection and put the hose in position onto the auxiliary water pump. Use the Hose Clamp Pliers (J38185) to place the hose clamp back on its original position. Install the hose onto the auxiliary water pump using Hose Clamp Pliers (J38185) by pushing the clamp back to its factory placement on the hose. Finally, fill the coolant.
