2006 Chevrolet Cobalt Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace a Heater Core on 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: The replacement of the Heater Core starts with draining the cooling system. The first step requires vehicle elevation followed by position of a drain pan directly under the Water Pump drain port. Drain the coolant by loosening the Water Pump drain bolt followed by a tight closure of the bolt at 10 n.m (88 lb in). Lower your vehicle and reposition the heater outlet hose clamp at the Heater Core via hose clamp pliers (J 38185). First use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to move the heater inlet hose clamp adjacent to the Heater Core before removing the heater outlet hose from the Heater Core. The Heater Core requires removal after you detach the Heater Core cover and the Heater Core unit. The lower hvac case requires inspection of its foam Heater Core seal for damage before using kent industries adhesive black foam tape (P/N 46480) or equivalent for replacement. Insert the new Heater Core into the hvac module as the subsequent step position the Heater Core cover. Using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) install the heater outlet hose to the Heater Core while securing the hose with its clamp. Perform the same procedure for the heater inlet hose before proceeding to fill the cooling system.
