• Q: How to replace the Power Steering Reservoir on 2007 Cadillac DTS?

  A: Start reservoir off vehicle replacement through usage of the Power Steering Reservoir Clip Remover (J-42649) to detach the reservoir assembly clips. Start by taking out the mounting bracket bolts from the mounting bracket assembly before detaching the bracket from the pump. The reservoir needs to be taken out from the hydraulic pump housing before discarding the O-ring seal. Strip the TORX(R) head bolts on the hydraulic pump housing using correct torque settings of 20-25 N.m until they reach 15-18 lb ft. The valve bore plug needs to be fastened with 50-60 N.m torque (37-44 lb ft torque). Apply power steering fluid to the new O-ring seal before installing it onto the reservoir trough correct alignment with the housing assembly to avoid damage. Position the reservoir assembly on top of the hydraulic pump housing with careful attention to complete engagement of the retaining clip onto its installation slot. The installation ends with striking the retaining clips using a hammer for mounting the pump to the bracket followed by bolting the bracket to 28-38 N.m (21-28 lb ft).
