2007 Chevrolet Colorado Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2007 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: Begin by lifting the vehicle and taking off both front tire and wheel parts. Clear away all dirt particles and external items from brake hoses and pipes. Connect the brake pipe to the brake hose using a back up wrench then install a cap in the pipe fitting to avoid fluid spillage. Check the frame clamp on the brake hose before you disconnect the brake pipe fitting from the brake hose. Replace the damaged retaining clip with a fresh one. Before taking out the brake hose from the brake caliper remove the frame's front brake hose retaining clip and both bolt and gaskets from the caliper. Take copper gaskets from their position on the brake hose bolt because they tend to stick to brake hardware. Add fresh metal copper gaskets to brake hose parts as you put the brake caliper bolt into place by tightening brake hose parts to 40 n.m (32 lb ft). Fasten the brake hose onto the exposed brake pipe fitting making sure the hose runs straight with no contact to suspension supports. Use a second wrench on the brake pipe end while turning the fitting until it reaches 17 n.m then put in the retention clip. After bleeding the hydraulic brakes you should place the new tire and wheel assembly before lowering the vehicle.
