How to Replace a Front Brake Line (J56) on 2008 Cadillac STS?

Raise the vehicle and support it before getting rid of the front tire and wheel system to replace the front brake hose (J56). Carefully eliminate dirt from both brake hose and pipe joins before disconnecting the wheel speed sensor connector from the bracket. Break bolts from the front brake hose bracket and disconnect the brake pipe from the hose while using a cap to seal the fitting. Unbolt the brake hose retainer using a flat tool and take the brake hose off the bracket. Move the brake hose fitting bolt out of the brake caliper and detach the brake hose but plug the inlet port to hold the fluid inside. Strike the threaded brake hose part onto a towel placed on a level spot to detach the gaskets from the bolt. Dispose of these two copper gaskets safely. When ready to mount the assembly insert new copper brake hose gaskets into the caliper port and attach the brake hose plus fitting bolt while torquing them to 34 n.m (25 lb ft). Install the brake hose with the tapered end of its retainer toward the brake pipe and snap the brake hose retainer onto the brake hose. Secure the brake hose to the brake pipe fitting by hand-tightening until it reaches 18 n.m. Reinstall the wheel speed sensor wiring retainers and connect the brake lines. Practise hydraulic brake bleeding as you install the tire and wheel assembly then lower the vehicle.
