Support the vehicle on stands and take off its tire wheel assembly. Press the brake caliper against a large c-clamp to push the piston while installing it over the brake rotor until you can slide the piston past the brake rotor. Remove the c-clamp. Unthread the brake hose connection from the caliper and get rid of the two copper gaskets while using plugs to seal off both sides to prevent fluid spill. First you should disconnect the caliper from the brake bracket by removing its mounting bolts. When installing the brake caliper guide pin boots you need to put them in the right position. Check whether caliper guide pin boots need replacement because of damage. Insert the brake caliper onto the bracket while making sure threads of both caliper bolts and bracket holes stay clean before applying threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 canadian code 10953488 to 2/3 of each lower caliper bolt thread length. After 10 minutes allow the threadlock to stabilize and apply silicone brake lubricant to the caliper pin bolts before tightening them to 63 n.m (46 lb ft). Attach the brake hose to the caliper while using new copper gaskets and tighten the bolt to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Release hydraulic brake pressure first and without starting the engine press the brake pedal to 2/3 from idle position once then release it until brake response is firm. Repeat this procedure until you achieve a solid brake feel. Put back the wheel and tire unit and let the vehicle down to rest.
