How to replace the front brake calipers (J56) on 2009 Cadillac STS?

As a starting point to replace the front brake caliper (J56) it is necessary to check the fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir. The fluid level should be kept at the midway point between maximum-full and minimum levels unless it exceeds this point then adjustment should be made to reduce it to midway. Begin by supporting the vehicle with stands and remove the wheel combination consisting of tire and wheel. The flat-bladed trim tool made of plastic should be used to compress both caliper pistons inside the bores by pushing between rotor and pad until full compression before repeating the method for the outer pad. Move the caliper bolt and brake hose away from the caliper unit while discarding two copper gaskets and plugging the openings to avoid fluid drainage. Brake caliper bolts should be removed first so you can extract the caliper from the wheel knuckle. Before installing apply threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) to two-thirds of the threaded length of the caliper to knuckle mounting bolts, let the threadlocker cure for about ten minutes after wiping the bolts and threaded holes with denatured alcohol. Apply high-temperature silicone brake lubricant in a thin layer to the brake caliper pin before installing the brake caliper bolts with a torque value of 130 nm (96 lb ft). After removing the brake caliper opening plug along with the brake hose insert two new copper gaskets into position and install the brake hose fitting bolt ensuring 34 nm (25 lb ft) torque. Bleed the hydraulic brake system followed by engaging the brake pedal with the engine off to reach about 2/3 of its total length then slowly release it before repeating until the pedal becomes firm. Finish by installing the tire and wheel assembly followed by lowering the vehicle.
