To replace the seal on the intermediate
Steering Shaft, one has to disconnect the
Steering Column and intermediate Steering Shaft, the vacuum
Brake Booster. Unscrew the fuel lines from the under-hood fasteners to reach the Steering Shaft seal retaining bolts, remove them, and drive out the retaining bolts as well as the intermediate Steering Shaft seal. For installation, insert the new intermediate shaft seal into the vehicle such that it is bound to the holes on the floor pan and fasten it using intermediate shaft seal bolts tighten to 3 nm (27 inch lbs.). Replace the fuel bundle into the under the hood fasteners, thereafter, replacing the vacuum Brake Booster and lastly, replacing the Steering Column and intermediate Steering Shaft. After installation, test the steering to ensure that there is no binding between the intermediate Steering Shaft and the intermediate Steering Shaft seal.
