Cadillac SRX Cam Gear Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Cam Gear for Bank 1 (Right) Exhaust on Cadillac SRX?
A: The replacement process for bank 1 (Right) exhaust Camshaft position actuator starts by taking off upper intaken manifolds then lower intaken manifolds and follows with removal of the Camshaft cover and Camshaft sensors. After removing the intake Camshaft position actuator solenoid make sure to turn the crankshaft balancer clockwise before proceeding. Use the crankshaft balancer bolt to position the crankshaft at neutral until both camshafts align directly with the Camshaft cover rail when measured from their flats. A wrench should be applied to the Camshaft hex to protect it from damage because you should not remove the Camshaft position actuator bolt right now. Install the en 46108 (Timing Chain Retention Tool) while retaining the Timing Chain by ensuring complete engagement of the tool's tips then firmly tighten its nuts. Markposition the chain and corresponding locations on both Camshaft positionactuators before removing the right exhaust Camshaft positionactuator bolt and the actuator assembly. When installing select an ex-marked Camshaft position actuator and position the actuator's timing mark against the highlighted Timing Chain link found on the right engine side. The Camshaft actuator bolt should be loosely hand-tightened while you remove en 46108 then reapply the wrench to the hex of the Camshaft for protection. Secure the intake Camshaft position actuator while also reinstalled the intake Camshaft position actuator solenoid and both Camshaft sensors before putting back the Camshaft cover and upper Intake Manifold to join with the lower Intake Manifold.
