The first step for replacement of primary camshaft drive chain and sprockets involves unmounting the Oil Pump. You need to adjust the marks on the crankshaft using the j 39946 crankshaft rotation socket. First remove the secondary camshaft drive chains from the vehicle then proceed to take out the primary drive chain tensioner. You should disconnect the camshaft intermediate sprocket retaining bolt before extracting the primary camshaft drive chain , crankshaft sprocket and camshaft intermediate sprocket as one piece. The installation process requires you to position the timing marks of camshaft intermediate and crankshaft sprockets perpendicular to each other. Start with installing the primary camshaft drive chain onto its sprockets while making sure that the number i piston rests at top dead center (TDC) with the 1 o'clock crankshaft keyway alignment. Install the primary camshaft drive chain together with crankshaft sprocket and camshaft intermediate sprocket with the help of crankshaft rotation socket j 39946 while keeping the crankshaft key in alignment with the drive sprocket. Affix the camshaft intermediate sprocket retaining bolt to a torque of 60 nm (44 ft. Lbs.). The pin on the tensioner must stay in place until the secondary timing chains receive installation. After installing the primary drive chain tensioner you will move forward with secondary camshaft drive chains setup. The last step involves removing the pin on the primary Timing Chain tensioner release lever before aligning the primary timing marks vertically then reinstalling the Oil Pump.

The first step to replace the camshaft intermediate drive shaft sprocket demands the removal of the Oil Pump. The crankshaft rotation socket (J 39946) should guide you in matching up the primary timing marks. The secondary camshaft drive chains must be detached first with subsequent removal of the primary drive chain tensioner. The replacement of camshaft intermediate sprocket starts by first removing its retaining bolt then continuing with removal of the primary camshaft drive chain and assembly of crankshaft sprocket and camshaft intermediate sprocket. You should position the timing marks of the camshaft intermediate and crankshaft sprockets in a vertical orientation when installing. Place the primary camshaft drive chain on the sprockets when the number 1 piston stands at the top dead center (TDC) position along with the 1 o'clock orientation of the crankshaft keyway. Install the primary camshaft drive chain with the crankshaft sprocket and camshaft intermediate sprocket as an assembly by using the crankshaft rotation socket (J 39946) to position the crankshaft key with the drive sprocket. Truly tighten the camshaft intermediate sprocket retaining bolt to reach 60 nm (44 ft. Lbs.). The upkeep of the tensioner pin will be delayed until after the secondary timing chains receive installation. Next install the primary drive chain tensioner followed by the second camshaft drive chains. Before the Oil Pump installation begins, first check that the primary timing marks are perfectly vertical while releasing the pin from the primary Timing Chain tensioner release lever.

The replacement of primary camshaft drive chain and sprockets begins with gathering essential tools that include crankshaft rotation socket (J 39946). Start by removing the Oil Pump and set the primary timing marks straight by using the crankshaft rotation socket (J 39946). The technician should begin by removing the secondary camshaft drive chains before progressing to disconnect the primary drive chain tensioner. Unfasten the camshaft intermediate sprocket holding bolt before you separate it from the primary camshaft drive chain and crankshaft sprocket and camshaft intermediate sprocket unit. Install the main components by placing the camshaft intermediate and crankshaft sprocket timing marks in vertical position then put the primary camshaft drive chain on the drive sprockets while keeping the number 1 piston at top dead center (TDC) at 1 o'clock position. Set the crankshaft rotation socket (J 39946) to align the crankshaft key with the drive sprocket before you install the primary camshaft drive chain and crankshaft sprocket and camshaft intermediate sprocket as an assembly. Attach the camshaft intermediate sprocket retaining bolt then apply torque to 60 nm (44 ft. Lbs.). Take out the pin from the tensioner only after installing both secondary timing chains. The first step should be to install the primary drive chain tensioner before moving on to the secondary camshaft drive chains. First uninstall the pin from the primary Timing Chain tensioner release lever while making sure the primary timing marks maintain vertical alignment before finishing with the Oil Pump installation.

After the secondary timing chains are installed.

Remove the pin from the primary timing chain tensioner release lever and ensure the primary timing marks are aligned vertically.

Tighten it to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).

Align the timing marks of the camshaft intermediate and crankshaft sprockets vertically in the installed position.

Use the Crankshaft Socket-4.0L and 4.6L (J 39946).

Install the secondary camshaft drive chains.

Vertically in the installed position.

Start with the primary camshaft timing chain.

Take out the right bank secondary camshaft drive chain tensioner.

Remove the secondary camshaft drive chains, followed by the primary drive chain tensioner, oil outlet tube, and the primary camshaft drive chain guide bolts and guide.

Install the primary camshaft timing chain.

Remove the right bank secondary camshaft drive chain shoe and guide.

Remove the oil pump.

Use a paint stick to create alignment marks on the timing chain links and the adjacent teeth on both the intake and exhaust camshaft position actuators.

Remove the EN 46108.

Remove the right bank secondary camshaft drive chain shoe and guide.

Ensure the proper friction washer is positioned correctly.

Remove the left exhaust camshaft position actuator oil control valve.

Install the right intake camshaft position actuator oil control valve.

Tighten the guide bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).

Install them with bolts, which should be tightened to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

Insert the EN-48313 (Timing Chain Retention Tool) between the camshaft actuators, ensuring the tool's feet face the front of the engine and are engaged in the link pockets.

Tighten the camshaft position actuator, then reinstall the intake camshaft position actuator solenoid, camshaft sensors, camshaft cover, and finally the upper intake manifold with the lower intake manifold.

First, remove the oil pump.
