How to service and repair a starter motor on Chevrolet Express 2500?

Service and repair of the Starter motor requires a first step involving disconnecting the battery negative cable. Start by disconnecting the wires attached to the Starter Solenoid and removal of any brackets and shields that are present. Clear the bolts and shims from the Starter motor before taking out the motor from the engine compartment. Start by positioning the Starter motor onto the engine after which you must install all bolts with any present shims and tighten them to 45 n.m (33 lb ft). Follow this procedure to connect wires at the Starter Solenoid by tightening the Battery Cable to 10 n.m (89 lb in) and the ignition switch wires to 2 n.m (18 lb in). Reattach the Starter motor brackets while maintaining the shields in place before reestablishing the battery negative cable connection.
