  A: The first step to change the Disc-type parking brake rear cable involves removal of the console rear trim plate. The first step is to loosen the adjusting nut until tension is reduced in the front cable. You should disengage the correct rear park brake cable end by releasing it from the cable equalizer and lift the vehicle before installation. Release the tab on the underbody retainer when reusing the cable but remove the cable entirely when using a new one. Apply careful prying pressure to the edge of the C-shaped retainer of the park brake cable to detach it from the bracket at the rear axle trailing arm pivot before pulling out the cable from the cable guide tube. The procedure for new cables requires attachment of the underbody retainer to the vehicle body but reused cables must be placed on the underbody retainer with tab activation. Lower the vehicle while connecting the park brake cable end to the equalizer followed by tension adjustment and lastly installing the console rear trim plate.
