GMC Sierra 1500 Classic Door Lock Actuator Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear side door lock actuator on GMC Sierra 1500 Classic?
A: Starting with raising the window and removing door trim panel and water deflector allows access to change the rear side door lock actuator. The inside door lock rod should be disconnected from its position on the handle retainer clip and the manual door lock rod must be detached from the door retainer clips. The rubber plug needs removal in order to disconnect the outside handle rod retainer followed by separating the cylinder lock rod . The door lock actuator must be taken out with its control rods as a complete assembly by removing both its retaining bolts. Disconnect the electrical connector from the door lock actuator then proceed with removing the control rods when equipped. Installation requires users to connect the control rods with the assembly and to install electrical connectors into the door lock actuator whenever it is equipped. Fasten the door lock actuator to its installation position while integrating both outside door handle control rod and cylinder lock rod. Secure the door lock actuator bolts on the door while tightening them to 9 N.m (80 lb in). The manual door lock must be reattached to the door retainer clips followed by both the inside door handle control rod to the lock assembly and the inside door lock rod to the handle retainer clip. In the last step reinstall the water deflector followed by the door trim panel while examining all associated components for proper operation.
