    Q:
How to remove and install the ABS Control Module on Buick LeSabre? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first steps to remove the ABS Control Module (ABSCM) start with flipping off the ignition and raising the vehicle. Start by removing the left front wheel followed by the left front wheelhouse extension before extracting the air pump when it is present. Release the abscm connector tab to the unlocked position then pull the abscm connector position assurance out from the abscm electrical connector. You should set the ignition switch to off before you connect or disconnect any wiring harness to stop equipment damage. Proceed to detach both the abscm electrical connector which sits on the abscm as well as the bpmv electrical connector which also connects to the abscm. You need to detach the 6 abscm to bpmv screws while cleaning the abscm/bpmv assembly surface for future repair reference. Incidentally the abscm cannot be serviced with faulty components it must receive replacement. The procedure requires abscm to be apart from bpmv. The installation process requires sealing the bpmv surface and implementing the abscm onto the bpmv while tightening each screw to 3.2 nm (28 inch lbs.). Connect both the bpmv electrical connector to the abscm while ensuring the ignition switch stays off and connect the abscm electrical connector to its mating abscm. The abscm connector position assurance assembly needs to be attached to the abscm electrical connector and the abscm connector tab requires rotation into a locked position. Put back the air pump if installed along with the left front wheelhouse extension while reinstalling the left front wheel before lowering the vehicle. An unprogrammed abscm might cause drp/abs/tcs/vses/tim/ves to malfunction if these systems are equipped while setting dtc c1248 and c1255m3. Any new abscm unit should receive programming for the latest software which matches the vehicle specifications. Use the scan tool to perform both dtc clearing then initiate the abs diagnostic system check.

    Q:
How to replace the ABS Control Module on Buick LeSabre? Posted by Customer
    A:
First turn off the ignition power then raise the vehicle to perform ABS Control Module (ABSCM) replacement work. First remove the left front wheel and left front fascia extension while cleaning all contaminants away from the ABSCM installation area. Wash the ABSCM area thoroughly before rotating the connector tab for unlocking position and taking off the ABSCM position assurance from its electrical connector. The wiring harness connection requires an OFF ignition because the system will experience damage otherwise. Disconnect the ABSCM electrical connector from the ABSCM then take the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) electrical connector from the ABSCM. The ABSCM/BPMV assembly requires cleaning of its surface prior to replacement after the removal of its 6 ABSCM to BPMV screws because an injured ABSCM will need replacing. Disengage both the ABSCM unit from the BPMV assembly. Installation begins with cleaning the BPMV surface after which the ABSCM should be positioned onto the BPMV while applying torque of 3.2 N.m (28 lb in) to the 6 screws. The BPMV electrical connector should connect to the ABSCM while the ABSCM electrical connector should match up to the ABSCM. Then secure the connector position assurance to the ABSCM electrical connector. After locking the ABSCM connector tab downward you can reinstall both the left front fascia extension and left front wheel. Lower the vehicle. An unprogrammed ABSCM may result in DRP/ABS/TIM/VSES/TIM/VES (if equipped) malfunctions along with triggering DTC C1248 ABSCM Turned On the Red Brake Warning Indicator and DTC C1255m3 ABSCM Internal Malfunction. The ABSCM replacement requires programming with the vehicle-specific software and DTC clearing through the scan tool as a prerequisite for ABS Diagnostic System Check execution.
